Barbarian – The Ultimate Warrior

Ergh, well at least it was given away in a free pack.  It might of seemed pretty decent when it was first released in ’87, especially when comparing the colours and animation to the 8-bit micro’s.

By 1990 standards, even comparing to the CPC which has put out the likes of Turrican and Shinobi, this game is wanting.

It’s a fairly basic player vs player beat-em up of the Exploding Fist style that we’ve already seen a few times now, but this time with swords.

Alas the controls feel very unresponsive and the animations are incredibly slow.  You really are better off playing the wireframe Kung-Fu from the first Amstrad Action covertape.
