Taito’s sequel to the brilliant ChaseHQ alas lives in the shadow of it’s elder brother. SCI takes the basic ChaseHQ formula and adds in a smattering of Atari’s Road Blasters done better. Play is largely identical to the first game but with the addition of gun fire and some extra enemy henchmen to chase off.
I found the additions detracted from the core ChaseHQ gameplay. Sorting out the extra bad guys and trying to line up your crosshairs to fire means more taking your eyes of the road and less bashing the villain.
It’s a playable fun game with some very nice graphics, including rain and waves crashing over the side of a bridge, but given the choice I’d sooner sink my coins in to the original cabinet.
